What I love about teaching:
I love being part of a student's life when they grasp a new concept or insight.
Best teacher moment:
I love being there to hear my students read for the first time and getting to cheer with them.
Teaching philosophy:
"Let the little children come to Me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Luke 18:15
What I would like to instill in my students:
That God is always in control and He loves them dearly.
My story:
I was raised in a large family of 11 children with 6 brothers and 4 sisters. I became a follower of Jesus when I was 16 years old. I had always been drawn to God and learned about saving grace from my older sister. I received the gift of salvation at that time and became a new creation and have been growing closer to Jesus ever since. I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education with a Health Certification. I have been married to my husband, Bob, for 34 years. We have raised 7 children; 2 boys and 5 girls. Our oldest is 33 and our youngest is 20. We also have 9 grandchildren. Our 5 girls went to Tabernacle School. We are a proud military family with my son serving in the Air Force in Germany and my son-in-law having served in the Army in Washington after deploying to Afghanistan for 1 year. I have worked at Tabernacle for 18 years teaching Junior Kindergarten for 1 year, Kindergarten for 11 years, Transitional Kindergarten for 3 years and Kindergarten for 2 years. My 17th year at Tabernacle is a combination of teaching Kindergarten and being the Director of Junior Kindergarten. My 18th year will be solely as the Junior Kindergarten Director.
Hobbies:
My "hobbies" are my family. I love spending time with my children and grandchildren. I love the outdoors, especially the beach. I love a good cup of coffee and going to the marina to watch the sunset.
