What I love about teaching:
As a PE Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director, and Bus Driver...I love the variety! I can train the kids in physical fitness, coach em up in sports, schedule their games, and provide transportation to and from events...it is a total sports experience! Since I teach 1st through 8th grade daily, I get to see these kids grow up, develop self-confidence, gain maturity and social skills, as well as witness all sorts of milestones!
Best teacher moment:
It is all about motivating the students to do the things they do not want to do, and inspiring them to do the things they think they cannot do...being there to witness that spark in their eyes or how they light up when they learn something new or overcome an obstacle they thought they could not, this is a true treasure!
Teaching philosophy:
Some of the best role models and biggest influencers in my life were the PE Teachers and Coaches I had growing up...as a tribute to them and thank you to the time and effort they poured into me, it is my goal as a teacher and coach to be for my students what my teachers and coaches were for me. "As I stumble through this life, help me to create more laughter than tears, dispense more cheer than gloom, spread more cheer than despair. Never let me become so indifferent, that I will fail to see the wonders in the eyes of a child, or the twinkle in the eyes of the aged. Never let me forgive that my total effort is to cheer people, make them happy, and forget momentarily, all the unpleasantness in their lives. And in my final moment, may I hear You whisper, "when you made My people smile, you made Me smile." -Anonymous
What I would like to instill in my students:
It's okay to make mistakes and struggle with things, because the most rewarding moments and lesson in life happen through overcoming challenges...That is why I believe PE and Athletics are the best contributor to provide life long teachings and meaningful opportunities.
My story:
I was born at a young age, right around 9 months, I do not recall much of my early years but I do remember that most of my fondest and vivid childhood memories revolved around my grandparents, Al and Ann Ziemer, they have since passed on but, they still play a big role in my life today. Being active and playing sports has always been a part of my life from a young kid to present day and being able to teach and provide the same experiences and pass on the same lessons I had growing up to the kids of Tabernacle is a true blessing and something I look forward to everyday! My wife and I have been blessed with 2 great children who attend Tabernacle, and we love spending time together and being active!
Hobbies:
Disc Golf, Cycling, Spartan Racing, Corn Hole, Darts, Sports in general-participating and spectating. DIY projects and building things. Live Music, Hanging out with family and friends-love a good BBQ!...basically enjoying life and helping others find enjoyment too!!!
