What I love about teaching:
I love teaching and being in the classroom. The best part of my day is when I can introduce the students with new concepts that get their creative minds thinking.
Best teacher moment:
I love watching the moment that the kids grasp what I am teaching and I see their faces light up. Then the hard work of prepping and late night hours are worth it.
Teaching philosophy:
My philosophy with teaching is that there is no one type of teaching method that is universal because not every student learns the same way. There may be times where peeling back the layers of the dynamics of the class helps figure out what works best even if the end result can be a bit unconventional.
What I would like to instill in my students:
I would like to instill in the students is to always try and never give up. What might be an impossible task or lesson can end up making sense the next day or next week. And that it is okay be make mistakes as long as they learn from it and move forward.
My story:
I am a Bay Area native. I have 17 years of Catholic education and earned my B.A. In Psychology with an emphasis in Education at the University of San Francisco. I started out working in higher education more than 20 years ago. I have worked with both the public and private sector both in administration and in the classroom. I truly enjoy working with students and can’t imagine working in any other field.
Hobbies:
I love spending time with my husband, daughter and our two dogs. When our schedule permits, we love to go on local day trips around the Bay Area, love the going to street festivals and antique/ craft shows. If I have some downtime, I love to cook, enjoy reading, sewing and playing with my pups.
