What I love about teaching:
What I love about teaching is that I get the opportunity to find my students’ interests and help them develop those interests! And every day is different, even though we follow a routine, there are no dull moments!
Best teacher moment:
The pinnacle of my day is when a student who might’ve had difficulties reading, reads a paragraph smoothly, with great expression, with nobody’s help! Or when a student who’s been struggling, all of a sudden, solves a long division problem confidently! The expression on their faces is priceless! It warms my heart when my students try to copy the exact way I write my letters and numbers, or when they use the exact same phrases I use to prove a point! It’s a privilege to teach children and I truly enjoy every minute of it! 😀
Teaching philosophy:
I believe in creating a positive and safe atmosphere in the classroom, where students can express their opinions and not worry about making mistakes. All I ask my students is to be engaged, come prepared, and be ready to have fun learning! Let’s do our best, whatever that best is!
What I would like to instill in my students:
What I would like to instill in them is the ability to work on a team and develop communication and problem solving skills, and become lifelong learners. I would like them to believe that they’re a part of the body Christ and they’re important and have a purpose in this world!
My story:
I started my teaching career in 1992, at New Hope Academy, formerly known as, Concord Christian School. I’ve had the privilege of teaching different grades and age groups in the past 28 years. After the merger between NHA and Bay Christian School, I was fortunate to have a teaching position at the Bay Christian School, which I’m currently part of the support staff.
Hobbies:
My hobbies are reading (especially history books), watching football, painting/drawing, and playing competitive word games.
