What I love about teaching:

I get to share the joy of music and all of the ways we can appreciate it. We get to praise God as we learn. How awesome is that?

Best teacher moment:

My first year teaching, a parent wrote and framed a poem for me thanking me for my love and patience in teaching her child who has ADHD. (Heart: completely melted)

Teaching philosophy:

Be flexible!

What I would like to instill in my students:

I don't expect you to leave my class prepared to pick up any instrument and play in a symphony or concert, but I do want you to have an appreciation for all things music related.

My story:

I grew up just outside Green Bay, Wisconsin. My husband and I met in Springfield, Missouri at Evangel University. We've been married 26 years and have four kids (three girls and one boy). I started playing piano when I was five. I enjoyed choir in junior high and high school. As a freshman, I took voice lessons and it was then that I knew I would study voice in college. I earned a bachelors of music in K-12 education degree. I've taught in both public and private schools. I love sharing music and doing something that I find fun and inspiring.

Hobbies:

I enjoy crafting/making things from nothing. Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite stores. I make jewelry, seasonal decorations, and anything else that strikes my fancy. Also, I play piano and have done so since I was 5. I read music and play by ear.
